Compendium Guides

Pod trading

Build a small trading circle, and Compendium tells you who already has the cards you want — and who wants yours.

Steps below are shown for iOSAndroid — use the iOS / Android switch in the sidebar if that's not your phone.

What a trade pod is

Pod mates only ever see your Trade Binder — your Have and Want lists and their values — never your library or decks.

Your trade binder shows your own haves and wants. A trade pod goes one step further: invite specific people you trust, and once they accept, Compendium automatically compares your binder to theirs and surfaces every card overlap — no messaging back and forth to find out who has what. Your pod doubles as your play group, too: it's who you can add to a live game and share Game Log results with.

You'll need a Compendium account. Whoever you invite doesn't need one yet — see below for how that works.

Where to find it

Open your Trade Binder. Two of its toolbar icons are for pod trading:

People icon
Opens My Pod — who's in your pod, plus invites and your blocked list.
Swap arrows icon
Opens Pod Matches — card overlaps with each pod mate, empty until someone's accepted.

If you followed an invite email or notification, it opens straight to My Pod so you can respond. You'll also get a push notification when someone invites you, when they accept, and when a new match appears.

Pod trading is rolling out gradually — if you don't see these icons on your Trade Binder yet, it isn't enabled for your account.

Invite someone to your pod

In My Pod, tap Invite — or Invite a friendInvite someone if your pod is empty. This opens Invite to Pod.

  1. Enter their email

Enter the email address your friend uses for Compendium, under Email.

  2. Send it

    Tap Send Invite.

    Tap Invite.

Your friend doesn't need Compendium yet — if that email isn't registered, they get an email inviting them to download the app instead, and your invite is waiting for them once they sign up with that address. Either way you'll see the same confirmation: “If that email has a Compendium account, we've sent an invite.” It's deliberately vague so nobody can use this screen to check who has an account — it doesn't mean nothing happened. The invite shows in your pod list as Invite Sent until they respond, then their row changes to Accepted and they appear in Pod Matches.

They need to sign up with the exact email you invited. If they use a different one — like Apple's Hide My Email, or a different Google account — the invite won't find them; cancel it and re-send to the address they actually used.
Changed your mind? Tap the Invite Sent row, then Cancel Invite — but cancelling moves them to Blocked Pod Members rather than removing them outright. Unblocking there puts the invite straight back to waiting for their answer; you don't need to send it again.

Respond to an invite

When someone invites you, they appear in My Pod as Pending.

Two actions sit right on their row: Accept connects you — they move to Accepted and pod matching starts. Block declines the invite and asks you to confirm first.

Tap Review (or the row) to open Connection Request, then choose Accept — connects you, they move to Accepted and pod matching starts — or Block, which declines the invite and asks you to confirm first.

"Block" isn't a moderation action here — it's just how the app records "not in my pod." Anyone you block (or whose invite you decline) goes on your Blocked Pod Members list, and you can unblock them any time.

See your matches

Open Pod Matches to see, per pod mate: how many cards they have that are on your want list, how many cards you have that are on theirs, and the value difference between the two sides — positive means the cards they have for you are worth more than the cards you have for them (or Even if they balance).

Tap a match to expand the actual cards on each side, or tap View full binder to open their binder directly.

Each match shows two chips — They have N you want and You have N they want — with a thumbnail strip of the cards; tap View full binder to open their binder directly.

Matched cards are also flagged right in your own Trade Binder — a small badge on a Have or Want row shows how many pod mates are a match for that card.

View a pod mate's binder

Tap View Binder from My Pod, or View full binder from a match, to open their binder — the same Have / Want layout as your own, with matched cards highlighted so they're easy to spot.

Remove or unblock someone

Once accepted, a pod mate's row offers View Binder and RemoveBlock. Tap RemoveBlock to end the connection: they stop appearing in your Pod Matches and can no longer open your Trade Binder from the pod, and you disappear from theirs the same way. They're listed under Blocked Pod Members, and you can undo it any time.

Tapping Remove asks you to confirm with a button labelled Block — that's expected, it's the same action.

To see that list, tap the Blocked icon in My Pod for the Blocked Pod Members screen, where each entry has an Unblock button. Unblocking puts things back where they were: if you sent the invite, their row returns to Invite Sent until they accept; if they invited you, they're Pending again with Accept on their row.

Removing or blocking a pod mate does not revoke a public binder link you shared with them via Export & share. That link is separate from your pod — revoke it from the Trade Binder's Export & share screen if needed.
